Itinerary 1: Goliad’s Historic Sites Itinerary

(Moderate walking with some stairs & steps)

11:00am: Tour Goliad Markethouse Museum (1871)
Built as a market house for meat and produce vendors, this building transitioned to firehouse in 1886, and now operates as a museum. FREE. Tues - Fri 10am - 3pm. Call the Museum to arrange group tours of 10 + (361) 645-8767 or email goliadhistoric@goliadcountytx.gov

12-2:00pm: Lunch and shopping on the historic Courthouse Square
The Courthouse Square is a Main Street project, with charming facades, array of antique and clothing stores, an art gallery, and wonderful eateries. Review our Visit Goliad Facebook page for restaurants & menus available around the courthouse square. Save time for a walk through Goliad’s magnificent County Courthouse, built in 1894 (restoration completed 2004). Empire style courthouse lost its turrets and towers in a 1942 hurricane. The tower clock is musical!

2-3:00pm: Interpretive Tour of Goliad State Historic Park and Mission Espiritu Santo
Park Road 6, 1 mile south of Goliad on Hwy 183. A Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept. interpretive ranger will guide you through the Mission and the Museum. FEE. Contact Goliad State Park at (361) 645-3450 to schedule your tour.

3:15pm-4:30pm: Depart for Tour of Presidio la Bahia, Our Lady of Loreto Chapel, 2 miles south of town on Hwy. 183 
View the 20 minute video and learn the important role the Presidio played in Texas’ history, tour its museum and Chapel. FEE. Contact the Presidio at (361) 645-3752 to schedule your tour. www.presidiolabahia.org

4:30-5pm: Tour of General Zaragoza’s Birth-place. Directly across the parking lot of Presidio

Itinerary 2: Goliad Wine, Dine & Shop

2:30 pm - 5:00 pm Texas South Wind Vineyard & Winery, 16375 US 183 S (3 hours) Drive south on US 183 South, and drive 16 miles
Texas South Wind Vineyard will be on left-hand side of road. Tour the vineyards, learn about this once vital industry and its revitalization! Then, enjoy a sampling of wines and learn about food-pairing. Delicious, fascinating and fun. FEE. Contact them at (361) 526-4662 to arrange your tour. Their hours of operation are: Mon - Sat 12 Noon - 5 PM

NOTE: You could reverse this Itinerary and end your trip with a visit to Commercial Street Bar located at 210 S Commercial St (Downtown Goliad) Open Thurs - Fri 5 pm - 12 midnight, Sat 5 pm - 1 am.

Itinerary 3: Goliad Market Days! FREE

SECOND SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH 9 am - 4 pm
Goliad’s historic Courthouse Square comes alive the second Saturday of every month, with hundreds of vendors selling homemade wares, live music, delicious foods, and family fun! Shop around the courthouse square, enjoy the shade of the old oak trees, sample foods, enjoy the charming store facades, array of antique and clothing stores, visit the art gallery, and wonderful eateries. Itinerary 4: Bird Watching – Exploring Nature

(Walking with some stairs)

8:00 AM: Start at Goliad State Park and Historic Site
Walk one of their many trails, some along the San Antonio River. Fee.

10:00 AM: Walk the Angel of Goliad Trail to Downtown Goliad and Branch Park
Take in the bird viewing station at Branch Park.

Noon: Lunch and shopping in Downtown Goliad.

2:00: Finish the day at the Coleto Creek Park and Reservoir
Located 15 miles east of Goliad on us Hwy 59. 3,100 acre reservoir and hiking trail with bird viewing blinds. Fee
